How Orobas works.

Every matchup is a person, not a house. You stake into a secure escrow; another player stakes the same amount; the rules of the mode decide the winner; the winner takes the pot minus a small commission. That’s the whole game.

Three modes. Same shape.

Post → match → settle. The mode differs in what decides the winner; the money flow is identical across all three.

Coinflip

Two faces. One reveal. Decided by verifiable randomness.

Step 1
Post your claim
Pick a stake. The amount escrows into a secure per-game account. You can’t back out unmatched — the lobby holds it open or voids and refunds you.
Step 2
Match
Another player accepts the same stake. Both sides now locked. The escrow account knows about both players.
Step 3
Settle
A verifiable randomness service resolves the outcome with a public receipt. The winner’s account receives their stake plus 96% of the loser’s stake. The 4% commission routes to the Orobas treasury.

Chess

Mind against mind. The board reveals.

Step 1
Post your claim
Pick a stake and a time control (5+0, 5+3, or 10+5). The stake escrows; the lobby surfaces your match to players at your stake size.
Step 2
Match
A player joins. The board starts. Move events stream over Realtime; the engine is the authority on legal moves and clock state.
Step 3
Settle
Checkmate, resignation, or clock-out decides the winner. The full PGN is permanently public; the settle pays the winner. Draws and stalemates refund both sides — no commission on voided games.

Events

Two claims about the future. One settles.

Step 1
Post your claim
Pick a binary event — sports, crypto, news — and the side you’re taking. Your stake escrows the moment the order is placed.
Step 2
Match
Another player takes the opposite side at the same stake. Both escrowed; the lobby holds open until matched. Posted-but-unmatched stakes can be withdrawn.
Step 3
Settle
An optimistic oracle resolves the outcome after the event happens. A bond-backed dispute window protects against bad resolutions. Winner takes the pot minus 4% rake; voided events refund.

Where the money goes.

Rake math is the same across every mode. We take 4% of the winner’s profit — never the principal, never anything from the loser beyond their stake, never anything on a voided or refunded game.

The loser receives nothing — that’s how every 1v1 game works. But we never touch the loser’s stake beyond what the winner claims as their pot.

For voided games (draws, opponent disconnects unmatched, oracle resolves the event to void): full refund both sides. No rake.

Why verification matters.

Traditional gambling asks you to trust the operator. Orobas asks you to verify us. Three things that means in practice.

Custody you control

Orobas never holds your principal. Stakes escrow into a secure per-game account; the operator can settle outcomes but cannot drain funds.

Provable randomness

Coinflip outcomes derive from a verifiable randomness service — public proof that the result wasn’t picked by Orobas. Every flip has a receipt you can audit.

Public history

Every settled duel has a public verification page. PGNs for chess. Verifiable receipts for coinflip. Permanent and human-readable.
